Struggle Today Strength Tomorrow-Help Us Stop Brett’s MS in its tracks.
As most people are aware, or soon will be aware, my husband Brett was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) last October. We live in Horsley in the Illawarra on the NSW South Coast and Brett grew up in Bega on the NSW Far South Coast. Unfortunately on March 8th this year we received the news that Brett’s MS has progressed. This means undertaking alternate treatment options and hitting it harder to try and hold it at bay as long as possible or halt it all together if possible. The best option is HSCT (Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation). As this treatment is not openly available in Australia Brett will be undertaking this treatment in Russia at a cost of around $80 000 with follow up costs as well.
Ever since Brett was a teenager he has always been a community focused person. He has been a volunteer with St John Ambulance providing first aid to sporting fixtures, the wider community and as part of the 2000 Olympic Games team. He has also been a member of the NSW RFS where he assisted at the 1999 hail storms in Sydney and the 2001 bushfires in the Shoalhaven. Then worked into paid community service with the NSW Ambulance Service and has always been in community minded job roles. BUT now this is where you come into it and need you as family, friends and the community to support him in return and help to get through this period and treatment.
We are eternally thankful and grateful. This assistance will go directly to the payment of Brett's treatment at the Hospital in Russia under Dr Fedorekno and will be deposited straight into our Association Struggle Today Strength Tomorrows account to contribute to the over all fundraising for this payment.
