Stray needs a loving forever home

Two days ago on June 29th, I was driving through a not so nice section of LA, when I spotted this poor guy wobbling down the street. Afraid he'd get hit by a car, I quickly scooped him up thinking maybe he belonged to a neighbor and wandered out the yard. That thought was quickly dismissed when I realized the poor condition he was in. His fur long and badly matted all over that it weighed him down. He tried to bite me out of fear, but I know it was just a defense mechanism from living on the streets for so long. He was badly dehydrated and starving. I gave him water and fed him and tried to take him to the groomer's but they wouldn't accept him without papers, shots etc, so I took him home to clean him up and was horrified at what I saw when I started. He was completely infested with ticks and fleas and I spent almost 6 hours cleaning him and removed over 300 ticks. They were eating him alive.

I bathed and trimmed him and took him to the vet the same day. He seems to have some issues going on with his back legs, we don't know what without further xrays. Also his teeth are in poor condition and he cannot eat hard kibble or treats so I've only been feeding him softer foods. He has a skin infection and on meds for that and pain killers for the legs as well. He's a terrier about 8-10 years old , 11 and half pounds and a very chill and mellow soul.

Unfortunately I can't keep him. Having lost my own dog, a sweet Golden Retriever of 12 years, just 9 weeks ago, I'm just not ready to take on the emotional and financial responsibility. But I am happy to love and foster him, while I try to find him a good home. I have also spent hours online searching through hundreds of photos to see if he belongs to anyone. He isn't chipped or neutered, but he is a very sweet dog with an easy temperament. Great with other animals too and is housebroken.

My goal is to raise enough to get him xrays, bloodwork and dental work, so it will be easier to find him a home. It will be more difficult to get him adopted if he has isssues. I'm praying as well that once tests are done, it won't reveal any further medical issues.

I have invested quite a bit from my own pocket but am not really in a financial position to do more. Whatever you can donate is helpful, and truly no amount is too small.

Your love and kindness is greatly appreciated.
