Students Against Human Trafficking

Donation protected
Myself and 3 other students (Luke Staab, Calire Ifft, Jerryl Joy) at Temple University are working together to generate awareness and gather donations for PEHT- Project End Human Trafficking. We are a part of a project in our Entrepreneurial Marketing class called 10x10x10 where we were given $10 from our professor to start our campaign.  It is up to us to multiply that amount as much as we can for PEHT.

PEHT is a project under the Social Impact Institute that is dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking in an effort to pull slavery out from the shadows and into the public eye. Through education, they hope that more people will become inspired to take action against this atrocious issue. The Project provides prevention education lectures locally, nationally, and internationally that address topics in human trafficking such as culture, globalism, sex tourism, and victim identification. An important component of the education lectures is the provision of information about how individuals and organizations can participate in the anti-slavery movement. Domestically and internationally, PEHT has provided over 500 trainings between 2004-2013 and educational events to those in "frontline" positions to potentially identify and provide services to victims e.g., police, emergency room staff, postal workers, etc. http://www.endhumantrafficking.org/

When we think of human trafficking, we often think of people being abused in countries like Thailand, Russia, Uganda, etc.  Human trafficking is unfortunately extremely prevelant in these countries.  However, people in the U.S. should not feel removed from the issue of human trafficking because these countries are so far from us.  Human trafficking still takes place in the U.S. and more than we would expect. Human Trafficking occurs even in Philadelphia, behind closed doors right under our noses. Here is a recent story about a 14-year old girl who was forced into sex slavery in Philadelphia-  http://www.delcotimes.com/article/DC/20160218/NEWS/160219640.

The issue of human trafficking becomes so much more real when we realize that it could be happening next to us without even knowing. My fellow advocates and I are asking for any sort of donations (no amount is too little) for this fund so we can donate it directly to PEHT- who we are continuously working with during this class project.  We realize that we may not be able to end human trafficking as a whole, but we hope to make even a small impact, especially in the areas closest to us. It's time we bring this issue to the public eye and do our best to end it. #PEHT #StopTraffick #10x10x10
