Stop Sexual Abuse in the Church(Mundelein Protest)

Donation protected
Sexual abuse within the catholic church is at an all-time high and the church is attempting to cover-up all allegations at any cost.

At a recent Baltimore meeting of bishops, discussions and actions of how to best handle this situation was removed from the agenda after attempting to cancel the entire meeting altogether. Instead of accepting responsibility, cooperating with investigations, and helping find justice for their victims, the church continues to obfuscate, deflect, and procrastinate solutions.

From January 2-8, 2019, bishops from all over America will be having a "spiritual retreat" in my hometown of Mundelein to discuss their next steps in preparation for a Vatican meeting in February. We must demand that they take this situation seriously, atone for their prior lack of action, and do everything possible to both expose all previous cases of sexual abuse while also preventing more incidents in the future.

My current plan, what I can personally commit to without assistance, is a small public demonstration at the Veteran's Monument at East Hawley and Route 176, across the street from the largest catholic seminary in America (less than a quarter mile from the main gate) where the spiritual retreat is happening. A permit has been pulled for 2-4pm on Saturday the 5th at that park (still pending but expected to be approved), but there is still time to request additional time and dates if there is enough support.

Money raised via this campaign will be used for supplies for the demonstration, including signs, handwarmers for the cold weather, and more. If enough support and money is raised to hold longer demonstrations, food for volunteers will be necessary, as well as additional equipment for ongoing protests. To help further our message, some money may even be allocated for marketing materials, including online ads to spread the information or printed pamphlets to hand out.

If we hit our goal of $200, additional demonstrations and protests can be planned to continue demanding transparency from the church, even after this spiritual retreat ends, with a variety of creative attention grabbing methods. I am certainly open to input on how best to achieve these goals and make them hear our voices. All money raised will be used help find justice for victims of the catholic church in one way or another.
