Robert "Omelet Man" Assaulted

On Friday of October 19th, 2018 Robert Johnson — StMU's beloved Omelet Man— was assaulted and robbed at approximately 4:15 AM by three young males on his way to a bus stop.
With permission from Robert himself, we share his account of what happened in hopes that our tight-knit community will come to his aid in this time of need. Robert sustained several injuries that left him temporarily unable to return to work. We're asking that anyone donate anything they can to help mitigate the costs associated with his injuries. Robert described it as a regular day. He took his usual route to the bus stop on his way to work. It was Friday, so he had brought a little bit of extra cash that morning to visit the flea market later that day. However, at about 4:15 AM he was approached by a young male who demanded he turn over his wallet. Robert noticed the boy was young so he continued walking. The individual persisted and began throwing punches at Robert. Two other males then stepped out of a car - one carrying a hammer. Robert attempted to fend off the assailants but was only carrying his umbrella.
The next thing Robert remembered was waking up on the pavement without his wallet. Thankfully, he was able to find his way home and alert the authorities of what had happened.
We spoke with Robert on Monday, October 23rd and he let us know that he was doing well. During the altercation, he stumbled on a previously injured ankle that he said may have worsened his condition. Nonetheless, he spoke hopefully about returning to work as soon as next Monday.
