Hello,
My name is Theron Poe. I am a student at Saint Louis University and writing on behalf of the St Louis University Chapter of the Lions International Club. Lions Club International is the largest public service non-profit in the world. Our chapter focuses on public health issues in our own community of Saint Louis. As a whole, our chapter consists of both undergraduate and graduate students volunteering in youth education, relief fundraising and so much more. Last year we had a very successful event called the Saint Louis Public Health Fair. This year we are doing it again, but reaching to help a greater number of people. On April 1, 2017 we are hosting the second annual Saint Louis Public Health Fair at the Saint Louis University campus. The attendees of our Health Fair are provided with services and education concerning health awareness and issues that may be preventable all at one location and all 100% free of charge.
I am blessed in having a direct hand in coordinating and planning this event as the Director of Fundraising. This year, we are hoping to meet that same goal. The money raised goes toward several things:
1. Booths occupied by local organizations and coalitions that promote a greater level of public health by tackling relevant issues in our community.
2. Speakers who will not only give valuable insight on public health challenges in our community, but how regular citizens can get involved in solving them.
3. Healthy Activity and Screening Services that will range from hearing and vision screening all the way to healthy diet, exercise education, and blood donation.
4. A Research Symposium that will offer the scholars of our city the opportunity to bring their passions to the spotlight and shed light on the evidence-based analysis of our community’s health.
and so much more!
This year, we are looking at beating last year's attendance record of 850. This year's goal - is 1000 people! To accomplish this, we have been working very hard and pulling as many resources together as we can. But, no matter how well we do, we really need your help. We cannot do this alone! Every single dollar goes to help people in the Saint Louis community. We strive to set an example of a healthy lifestyle and work as a team to promote that lifestyle within our community. We cannot do this alone, and really need your help to reach our financial goals.
