Stephanie Mayhugh Czekner

The past four months my niece Stephanie Mayhugh Czekner has been fighting for her life against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She has already endured 30 nights in the hospital, weekly visits to clinic, chemo treatments, steroids, lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirations and biopsies.

Stephanie is scheduled for a stem cell transplant in mid April followed by a bone marrow transplant in the near future. These are extremely expensive procedures.

For those of you that know Stephanie, you know she would be first in line to help you with ANYTHING at all. She is the sweetest person (yes I am bias, since she is my niece). Stephanie always has a smile on her face-even dealing with this horrific disease. She is the glue of our entire family. If something is wrong she will help you, if you are sad, she will make you happy.   She is a true angel that walks among us!

She always thinks of everyone. Her biggest joy in life is her adorable five year old daughter. As a mother, Stephanie wants nothing more than to kick this Leukemia so that she can be there for Addison for all the important things to come.

Stephanie and Rob are prideful people, but out of network health costs, gas to and from the hospital, meds, and limited work can be devastating to a family. This is all on top of their concern for her treatment.

We really have no idea what kind of financial implications they will face, but as anyone who has dealt with insurance and medical care costs knows, they will be more than one family can bare.   Stephanie's care and treatment is all that matters now though, so being proactive in my request for your help is our only action.

The need could be $15,000 or $100,000+; there is really no way to know right now.

We all appreciate your support in honor of Stephanie.

Every bit helps, so if you can... please do.

Oftentimes people rally in the beginning, but the support tends to fizzle out down the bumpy road. If you can stay connected for the entire course of treatment and recovery you will be a lifelong friend of Stephanie’s.

It is hard to ask for help. If you are unable to donate financially consider donating blood to your local blood banks (Give her Name so that she can get credit), becoming a donor for the national bone marrow registry, and most of all include my neice in your thoughts and prayers.

With all my gratitude,

Becky
