Hi, this is Fran, proud mama of my two kids and pet mama to our dearest Golden Labradoodle Stella.
Stella is just 6 years old and she is our beloved four legged family member. To all appearances she is her happy lovable self. But she's carrying a large tumor on her shoulders.
We noticed her bigger than normal shoulders and thought when we got it checked it wouldn't be a big deal. That's not however what we found. What was discovered is that Stella is has an extremely rare form of cancer - extraskeletal osteosarcoma, soft tissue, cutaneous. You can look this up and see how unusual this is.
The option for treating her and giving her a reasonable opportunity for maintaining her high quality of life for years, closer to her normal life span, is a special form of highly targeted radiation therapy, only available here in Colorado as it turns out. The type of treatment is called Sterotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT). The technology is also used on specific human tumors as well. This high tech technology kills the cancer cells in a non-invasive surgical manner. Stella's tumor is complex and conventional surgery is not recommended.
Post SRT treatment she will also need chemotherapy treatment.
This all sounds complex, and indeed without the treatment her prognosis is quite dire - months.
This all also comes at an unexpected cost, approximately $10, 000 for the entirety.

Stella's protocol will begin early November, the earliest CSU could get her in. This buys a little time financially but not for her condition. What I do not raise via GoFundMe will need to be borrowed, if I can. It's hard for me to ask for help.
