Steeple Capital Campaign
Donation protected
Welcome to Caldwell Presbyterian Church , established in 1810 in the heart of the village of Lake George, NY. Throughout the past two centuries, Caldwell Church has been a cornerstone of faith and a beacon of light and hope for the Lake George community and beyond. Nestled on Montcalm Street overlooking Lake George, Caldwell has been a mainstay for generations of residents and summer visitors for worship, outreach, service, youth programs, and education.
Around 1855, the current steeple photographed below was built. After a storm in recent years, the structure of the steeple was compromised and it became necessary to replace the existing steeple.
Here you see the crane getting in position to remove the steeple on the morning of February 14th, 2017:
After 162 years, it took approximately two minutes and twenty one seconds for the steeple to be removed and lowered steadily to the ground (please see video), history in the making:
Adam Colver of the Post Star took this photo below, which graced the front page of the paper on February 15th, 2017. It is not every day that you see an iconic steeple that has stood for a century and a half, laying on its side.
Caldwell Presbyterian Church invites you to make a contribution to our capital campaign to raise funds to help pay for the new steeple, which will be completed by early Spring, 2017. For all our donors, there will be a special dedication ceremony and a pealing of the bells to celebrate the new era for Caldwell and for the community of Lake George, as we live into the future with hope. We invite you to make an enduring gift, so that future generations will come to know Caldwell Presbyterian Church and Lake George the way we have. Come be part of this historic moment. Give today. Every gift counts. Thank you.
