Starbright Off Broadway
STARBRIGHT FUNDRAISER AND $250 GIVEAWAY
"Starbright," the very first full-length play by Asheville playwright Sean David Robinson, will debut this summer Off Broadway in the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival!
While traditional production costs have been covered, we face the unique challenge of bringing our production from North Carolina to NYC. We are asking for donations to support our local artists by defraying the travel and lodging expenses. It’s an opportunity to put the Asheville arts on the map.

If you’re inclined to donate, we’d like to say thanks.
Level 1 – Patron ($25 and up)
All donors at the Patron Level and above are entered into a drawing to win a $250 VISA gift card. We'd love it if you used that prize to hop on a plane and come see the show, but you're free to use it however you want. If you do decide to come see the show, we'll throw in a complimentary ticket for you and a guest.
Level 2 - Co-Producer ($250 and up)
For donors who really want to make an impact, we're offering co-producer credit. Your name will be printed in the playbill and will appear in the introductory notes in the published version of the play when it becomes a published work.
Level 3 - Executive Producer ($500 and up)
The top tier donor level comes with an Executive Producer credit in the playbill and special thanks in the final published version of the play, PLUS a one-of-a-kind signed and bound copy of the script. Your unique copy will include pages from previous versions showing line-notes, edits and revisions in progress, plus a personalized author's note. This collector's item will ONLY be made available through this fundraiser!
Here's an update on the play's near future:
Starbright's next stop will be in Greensboro, NC, where it will be performed as part of the Greensboro Fringe Festival. It has been also selected as a top-10 finalist for the Centre Stage New Play Festival in Greenville, SC. If selected as a top-3 finalist, it will be performed as a staged reading in Greenville in October.
I have also submitted Starbright to the Eugene O'Neill National Playwright's Conference and am currently submitting it for the Jerome Fellowship at the Playwrights Center in Minneapolis. In order to be eligible for these major national competitions, Starbright cannot have had or be scheduled for a full-production. That said, once these opportunities have come to pass, you can bet your britches we'll be announcing a full production in the Asheville area. The timeline for that is looking like sometime in 2020. I'll be sure to keep you all posted.
For the donors who contributed at the Executive Producer level, I am putting together your custom scripts over the next two weeks, and hope to have those in your hands within the next 30-45 days. Thank you for your patience. I promise they will be worth the wait.
Thanks again for all the support, and for donating to the arts in general. The world needs more people like you.

Tickets are not yet available, but for those of you making plans to come see the show, this should help with the travel itinerary. Thank you all so much for your support! It means the world to me.
