Standing Rock

Donation protected

Friends,

We are the Standing Rock youth at the frontlines of Sacred Stone Camp fighting the Dakota Access Pipeline and we need your help.

Our long distance runs sounded the call to thousands and we are standing ground this winter to protect the water of life and to demand a fossil fuel free future for everyone's climate.

Despite funds raised for the Tribe, we have to raise our own funding for our youth work.

Our goal is to raise a symbolic number based on the 1868 Treaty that protects the land and waters at Standing rock.

$18,860 will
- support our frontline resistance  againt the Dakota Access Pipeline

- provide supplies for our winter at Sacred Stone Camp

- seed our new nonprofit envisioned by our core youth leaders

-  provide media training and tools so we can speak in our own voice

The Race for the Solution
We ran 2,000 miles to Washington, DC to speak against the Pipeline.

On the last day of the 22nd annual world climate negotiations, November 18, 2016,  http://www.cop22-morocco.com/agenda/  we completed  our 4th Run for Peace in California - the state facing the worst draught in our country.

Traditionally, indigenous peoples ran on foot to carry important messages and this year the Oceti Sakowin Standing Rock Youth Runners ran to their state capital and 2,000 miles to Washington, DC to bring their message of water protection. The Youth Runners are visiting California on a healing journey from Big Sur to Los Angeles with the goal of drawing awareness to our local environmental threats. This is a call to create Standing Rock in your own back yard and they carry the message that "Mother Earth is a source of life and not a resource.

Chief Arvol Looking Horse, Leader of the Great Sioux Nation presented us the youth with a ceremonial staff with three eagle feathers, one for each of our 3 Runs for Peace.

On Monday, November 21 we arrive in Los Angeles to thank the city council for voting to Stand with Standing Rock, meet the mayor, and to rally!

For the water, we choose a fossil free present by defeating the Dakota Access Pipeline and build the indigenous grassroots just transition by bringing
the solar solution to Sanding Rock!

THANK YOU for your sponsorship of the Standing Rock Youth - We Are the 7th Generation!

Sincerely,

The Oceti Sakowin Youth and Allies
