At Least 100 Dead, More Than 400 Wounded After Blasts Suicide Bombers target Catholic Churches in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday

Some images were way too graphic to post.. Please keep everyone in #SriLanka in your prayers. ☦️

St. Anthony’s Shrine, a Catholic church in Colombo, and St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo, a city about 20 miles north of the capital were targeted in this terrorist attack by suicide bombers.

ALL FUNDS WILL GO TO HELP THE VICTIMS OF THE ATTACK AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAT WERE ATTACKED.

“O Risen Christ, Redeemer of the human race, enlighten and guide all those who are building peace, every day and in every corner of the globe, at the cost of great sacrifices. O Victor over death, strengthen the artisans of justice and peace…where hopes for peaceful co-existence are still jeopardized by recourse to force and violence. Comfort those who reject the inevitability of ethnic rivalries…Allay the sufferings of those who are subjected to the violence of arms…May hope not be extinguished in those who trust that at last a hearing will be given to their legitimate aspirations to employment, to housing, to greater social justice and true freedom of conscience and religion, hindered at times by the intransigence precisely of the followers of other religions.” -St. John Paul II

Information:
We are Catholic Connect LLC from The Woodlands, TX and we will be giving the money fundraised to multiple charities that will help Sri Lanka victims. Some of the charities may include Caritas , Open Doors USA , Opus Dei ,  Missionaries of Charity , and a few others we are still trying to contact. For tax purposes we need to prove that the money went to these organizations so we are not taxed on this money. We will be posting updates with detailed descriptions of the charities we end up giving the funds to. We will be asking each charity to make sure the money goes specifically to help Sri Lanka.

The thing that ties Catholic Connect and the other charities we will be giving to is that we are all Christian organizations wanting to help Sri Lanka after the terrible incident that occurred. We will be withdrawing the money to our bank account and redirecting the funds to the charities we end up choosing to help Sri Lanka.

Earlier today over 150+ Catholics were laid to rest in Sri Lanka while another bomb was discovered and successfully disarmed at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Columba. We mourn and pray for those they left behind while they rejoice in the victory wrought by the Blood of the Lamb.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:11-12)

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and prayed. The funds will go to help these people in dire need. May God continue to watch over them in their mourning. Please keep the victims and their families in your prayers. ♥️

UPDATE: Sri Lanka's Defense Minister says police have arrested seven suspects believed to be linked to the wave of bombings that killed at least 190 people. The first seven blasts targeted churches and luxury hotels in and near the capital Colombo. A church in the eastern town of Batticaloa was also hit. One of the suspects was arrested on the outskirts of Colombo at the scene of an eighth explosion that killed three police as they attempted to search a house. Most of the casualties came from the church bombings, where worshippers were celebrating Easter.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesing has been speaking about the attacks, and Pope Francis offered condolences during his Easter address.
