I am Katerina Zafirova and I start this campaign in order to help my sister, when she needs you the most. On June 27, my sister Danche Zafirova was hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk in East Falmouth,MA. After being transported to Falmouth hospital, she was flown by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital- Trauma Intensive Care Unit.
For a week and a half she was in very critical condition, being in medically induced coma, suffering traumatic brain injury. On top of that she also suffers pelvic fractures, lungs injury (that made her breathe on a ventilator for two weeks) and kidney laceration as well.
After few weeks of many ups and downs, she finally started to recover and even made it to the rehabilitation part. She is a very strong young woman that is fighting really hard and now she needs your help to make her way to recovery, as with head traumas healing is a really slow process.
Danche is a college student from Europe - Macedonia, that came in USA participating a summer student exchange program, and was here for only few weeks before this happened. For the family and friends being a thousand miles away, this is really hard.
As I was also part of this program, I left my job in order to take care of her and give her support. Both of my parents as well, left their job and came to America, as the situation got really complicated.
She still has a long way to recovery and my parents would not be able to stay here for a long time. Me and my sister are both born and raised in Macedonia, and we would love her to be able to come home to start the next chapter of her healing process and therapy. We, as her family, believe that it'll be extremely encouraging for her to have the support of all friends and family being around.
As we all left everything and came in a totally new area, starting all from zero, we need your help and support to make sure hh all this soon becomes just a bad memory and she gets the treatment she deserves.
All funds will be used for Danche's recovery process and therapy, and hopefully soon tranasportarion to her home country- Macedonia.
