Spokane SART

$540 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 10 people in 1 month
Beth Sheeran & Aleshia King, Registered Nurses in emergency medicine & SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) trained are attempting to start up a local community training for nurses to aid survivors of sexual assault. Spokane SART wants to ensure that nurses are SANE trained & available 24/7 in Spokane, WA. Currently, SANE services are hospital based & survivors are not guaranteed to have a SANE trained RN care for them. National standards & statistics indicate better outcomes judicially when a Sexual assault response team is in place. Close collaboration between law enforcement, state crime lab, prosecutors, SANE trained medical professionals, & community outreach resources is imperative for a survivor & their pathway to healing.

Due to the obvious show of community support, we would like to pledge the following commitment to our Spokane community:
1) Funds raised through our go-fund-me account will be used to bring critical SANE training to our local nurses.
2) We will send select nurses to the train-the-trainer programs nationwide to learn valuable skills & national standards of practice that will be brought home to our Spokane community of SANE nurses.
3) We promise to train nurses that are passionate to be utilized as the SANEs in their institutions, to help ensure that the nurse caring for a sexual assault survivor is doing so by choice.
4) Any money raised that isn’t used for training costs will go towards ensuring 24/7 SANE coverage thru newly forming 2018 SANE programs at Lutheran Community Services & Partners With Families & Children.
