Splenectomy for Nero

My Nero was diagnosed with probable hemangiosarcoma on his spleen 2 weeks ago. 

I noticed about 11 weeks ago that Nero was off, inappetance, just in general not quite himself but I couldn't put my finger on it. I had a chem 17 blood panel done and everything looked perfect. He refused to play ball a few weeks after, and abdomen distended. So, our our vet drew a syringe of fluid out of his abdomen and it was blood. My poor Nero.

Here we are 2 weeks after diagnosis and he has SO much life left in him, that I want to try the surgery. There are no guarantees, but he is an excellent candidate, as his health beyond this, is spectacular. He had never been sick a day in his life prior to this.
