"Live From My Smartphone!"

Hello!

My name is Spherm Banks, and I am a full-time hip hop artist. I love making music, playing the piano, writing, producing, and being an entrepreneur. In light of my career as an artist, writer and musician, being independent  can be very challenging, mainly because of not having enough money to follow through on certain aspects that have to get done to take your career to new levels, and greater heights. Most people would take the most traveled route, and that is getting a job using that money to finance their dream. I am not one to knock that ideal, except for when you've done that, putting your all into it, and that result is lack luster, then you need to do it differently.

On Friday July 10th, 2015 I decided that I was going to take what I had and go for it, its all or nothing. I recorded an album on my smartphone which was inspired by my daughter Dasianae, starting out as a proof to her that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything and get it accomplished. During the first song I recorded, I said the phrase "Live from My Smartphone!", at that very moment I knew I had something, I just didn't know how big it was yet. Because of that phrase I named the album "Live From My Smartphone!".

"Live From My Smartphone!" (Album Cover)

Since the day of the official release of the album online, on Thursday May 5th, 2016, things have been going well. Within the first few days of its release I had a radio interview with the Gurl Bye show on 910 AM Superstation out of Detriot, Michigan, then I had my first performance shortly afterwards. I immediately started selling CD's on the streets hand to hand.

Selling CD's in Chickasaw Park Louisville, Kentucky

See, I started this whole project without any money, and have been operating on very little financing, taking everything I make putting back into the futherance of the project. The good thing is I have been able to take very little and turn it into something as you should have seen by watching the video above called 'Life's a Movie'.

In this situation, and, why I am campaigning for the $70,000 is to keep a great thing going exploiting its full potential. To be really successful in the music business you need some money. You don't have to spend a fortune to be successful if you know what to do, but you do need to spend something. At every turn people are always trying to make you pay to play, whether it's DJ's, bloggers, online music services, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube for advertising, promoters for perfomances, a publicist, other promotional outlets, traveling, and most importantly getting the album remastered. Till this day at the posting of this campaign, I have practically been without money, and with the support of my family and friends I have been able to fully pursue my dream. Because I am so focused, they have taken a chance on me seeing the belief, faith and tenacity exhibited daily with what I do. The good thing is, I have experience and knowledge to back it up, and the other thing is I have shown that "Live From My Smartphone!" is profitable because of how it was put together and released.

Life's a Movie

A number of changes have taken place since I recorded this video, and as you heard me say I did time in prison. It is true, I did nearly 13 years in the Federal Prison system for drug charges. Having done that time, I made some serious changes, put together a game plan and have been following it to the letter since my release back into society. Yes! It has been rough at times, but I have a laser like focus, and all I think about is success. In other words, failure is not an option because 'I burnt my boats and the bridge to cross back over the water' (that line comes from two simular stories I once read a while back that inspired me to go all in), so there is no turning back, I must keep pushing forward.I'm grateful for all that has taken place so far with the success the album has had, but in order for it to be what it's suppose to be, I have to get funding and continue to concentrate my energy full-time into the success of "Live From My Smartphone!".

I have a friend named Dave Christopher that has a non-profit program for the youth called AMPED located here in Louisville, Kentucky where I live. Dave did me a really huge favor donating 50 CD's, printed and pressed, just so I could continue with making "Live From My Smartphone!"  a huge success.

Thanks to Dave Christopher at AMPED , I have been given the opportunity to upgrade. When I first started selling CD's I went to Walmart and bought a spindle of 100 CD's and wrote on the face of the disc.

Dave seen the radio interview I had on the Gurl Bye Show (link will take you to the interview, fast forward to the 31 minute mark to hear it). The interview was posted on Facebook, and of course I was sharing it, and a bunch of others shared it as well. Dave and I ran into each other at the Public Library, it was then where he told me he seen the interview and was impressed with it. I gave him a CD and he opened it, when he seen it, he said "I'm going to do something for you. I'm going to donate 50 CD's to you for your album so you can keep it going!". As you've seen in the pictures above, he kept his word. I am extremely grateful for that. I really appreciate it. He helped me in a major way!

"Live From My Smartphone!"
I sell CD's all the time, and I sell online too, but in order to futher the success of "Live From My Smartphone!" I have to go through bigger outlets, and most importantly, I will have to pay for a publicist. Publicist are very powerful with getting the word out and in helping build a brand. As an independent artist / label, you either have to have the money or raise the money, as I am doing now.  If you made it this far with reading and watching the video's in this campaign, I would like to give you 5 songs and a Bonus Track from the album by clicking this link: Spherm Banks for Success
If you have already received the 5 songs and Bonus Track from me outside of GoFundMe through other online media sources, there is no need to click that link. Please continue here with your consideration of donation.
