This gofundme is created on behalf of our good friends Spencer and Felisha.
Spencer and Felisha's Story:
Spencer and Felisha recently left the Lower Mainland for a fresh start in Kamloops in order to get out of the chaos that comes living in a big city. Felisha has been dealing with some major health issues, leaving her unable to maintain a full-time job. In spite of this, Felisha decided to take on the task of assisting a Syrian family to start their lives in Canada. They were fortunate enough to purchase a small home with the idea that this Syrian family would live with them, and were willing to take on the expense of the major renovations required to follow through on this plan.
The nightmare:
Spencer and Felisha hired a contractor (Jason McDowell KJs Whole Home Renovations) after being referred by Felisha's uncle and friend, and also after seeing his work. Spencer and Felisha believed they had done their due diligence and put their faith in this individual, but have recently found out how wrong they were.
So far, "Jason the contractor" has told Spencer and Felisha he purchased their windows, appliances, & cupboard doors (along with many other materials and supplies) and the first three items should have all arrived between Feb 24th and March 1st. They are still waiting. At the point, Felisha and Spencer became concerned and started making calls.
Soon they discovered that there is NO order placed for windows because a deposit hasn't been paid (AALL Glass). Further, no order was placed with BestBuy- where "Jason" claims to have ordered their appliances.
Everyday is a new excuse from Jason and his wife Kelly, with each new excuse topping the last. He uses his 6 children to explain his absence and ignored phone calls most often.
Felisha and Spencer have given Jason $58,000 which they will not be getting back. Jason has denied all allegations and is now calling Spencer and Felisha liars.
It was soon discoverd that "Jason" has defrauded many couples, families, employees/contractors throughout Canada. Unfortunately, Spencer and Felisha were the latest victims of his scam.
Spencer and Felisha have hired a lawyer and have gathered other people within the community who have been victimized by this same contractor.
With their loss of nearly $60,000 and lawyer fees of upwards of $10,000, let's help our friends financially and get them out of this situation - one that most of us could never manage on our own when taking into account day-to-day living expenses. To add, Spencer and Felisha cannot even live at their newly purchased home as the house is not livable at this time, and as a result are currently living out of a trailer.
Spencer and Felisha would be the first people to help us out if any of us were in this situation.
Who you are and where you’re from
I am Darren, a close friend of Spencer's and Felisha. I have known them for many years and have worked with Spencer at Paladin Security and Easy Park. We have continued to be close all these years and I wanted to make this gofundme page to help as much as I can. I am currently a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and work out of Surrey, BC.
2. Your relationship with the parties for whom you are raising funds and your method of contact with them
Spencer and I meet every so often in person and often chat on the phone.
3. How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible)
The funds will assist to recoupe their losses through this difficult and stressful time as they have spent their life savings.
4. Your specific plan for how the funds will be withdrawn from and sent to the beneficiary of the campaign
The funds will only be withdrawn by Spencer Yu and Felisha Martin. The money raised will go through gofundme campaign and directly to Spencer or Felisha.
