Speech at Home

Hi!  My name is Nicole Carey and I currently teach special education in Champaign, IL.  I am raising money for one of my students to have a communication system to use at home and in the community.  

My student has autism and limited speech, so communicating his wants and needs to others is extremely difficult.  This communication system would allow him to communicate with his family in Spanish and members of the community in English.  He currently has access to this exact communication system at school and has immediately started using it to tell us what he needs and how he feels.  In the first few days of using this communication system, he went to the program and independently told his teacher that he wasn't feeling well and wanted to go to the doctor.  Without this communication system, he has very few words and struggles to tell people what he wants.  

How amazing would it be if he had a communication system that gave him a voice no matter where he is - home, school or out in the community!  With this campaign, we are budgeting for the communication app, an authentic Spanish voice, a carrying case, strap, and the iPad itself!
