Do know someone with Special Needs?

How often do you wonder about the future of your children?
What if you have a child that has special needs? How easy will it be for them to become a manager, maybe an executive, doctor, lawyer or a politician?
It's not always that easy to find employment at the best of times, however, having a physical, intellectual or learning impairment would make finding work more difficult.
How would it make you feel if your son or daughter was never given a chance to work because they take a little longer to learn basic tasks, or express anger because someone does not understand them?
My name is Kylie and I currently work with students that have physical and intellectual impairments and have seen these people come from not knowing how to read to learning to read a newspaper. By offering my time, patience and perseverance with them, they are forever grateful when they can see that people do actually want them to achieve something.

The joy in their faces and the confidence they build knowing they successfully achieved something is a rewarding experience. When these learners are given the opportunity to learn and can see an outcome from their learn, their belief in themselves enhances.
Unfortunately, there are many places around that fail to understand that these people require a little bit longer to learn basic

I have worked for organisations that really do not care if these people fail or succeed, and it breaks my heart when I can connect to these people as students, but because of company restrictions, I am not able to spend that extra time helping them.

My own experience has seen me design great work for companies only to have the ideas ripped out from underneath me, and the credit goes to the company for the work I do.

My vision is to provide special needs adults and our youth the opportunity to be accepted, while they not only learn, but are able to work and receive a formal qualification. I want to bring creativity and innovation to their learning while they socially interact with their supervisors, team and customers. My idea of setting up a training centre involves a retail environment, so while they are learning they are also working, and the outcome will be a nationally recognised formal Australian qualification.
Also, why they are learning and working towards their qualification, they will receive a steady income.

You see, I need your help, to raise the funds to the Australian Government can accept my application to provide the support to these people and give them a chance to be included in society the same way I would like my children to be included.
The help I need in raising these funds to provide a workplace environment where people with disabilities are able to learn and interact with the public. I aim to do this by setting up a small garden where our special needs workers will learn to grow their own fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plants. While experiencing and reaching into their sensory perception through real life activities. These products will then be offered to the community once cultivated. I am hoping my local council will supply this facility, however, there will need to be provisions for starting the garden including seedlings, soil, compost, stakes, tools and equipment, plumbing, etc.

I have contacted financial institutions, investors and other lenders to raise the funds to start this venture, however, they all want a return on investment. The mention of a not-for-profit makes investors run the other way.

Our youth are our future, even though we are a diverse community globally, there are still barriers to people with impairments that impacts on their ability to work in many organisations. Providing an alternative to the learning of the impaired builds confidence and allows these wonderful people to touch the lives of those who care, and like my own children, one day they will be our future and knowing that they will be able to live in a world that supports their intellectual creativity means the world to me.

If I am given the opportunity to provide support to the impaired, I would like to create a "funders wall" in the garden where your name and/or picture will be displayed, this way the learners will be able to look up each day they are learning and see those that have given them a chance to learn.

Every dollar counts! I appreciate your time and thank you for your help!
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this and even if you cannot financially help us, please help us by passing our message along to someone else.
