SOL'S QUEST TO BEAT STAGE 4 CANCER

SOL’S QUEST TO BEAT STAGE 4 CANCER

My husband Solon is the most loving, unselfish, generous and giving man I know.  He is my best friend and the most fun loving dad to our children Jessica, 7 and Israel, 9.  Our cancer journey began on 9th September 2013, when Solon was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer with metastases to his lymph nodes and liver.  In spite of the seriousness of the diagnosis, Solon started that very day doing everything he could to educate himself about both conventional and alternative cancer treatments in order to give himself the best chance of beating the diagnosis.

In 2013/2014, Solon underwent 6 weeks of chemo-therapy and radiation therapy followed by surgery to remove the primary tumour and lymph nodes.  Unfortunately the side effects from these treatments were extreme, he had a colostomy bag for 7 months, experienced excruciating constant pain once re-joined and bag removed and permanent nerve damage to various parts of his body. There was even a point where I remember Solon saying “I think I want the bag back as I cannot bare this pain any longer.” However, Solon never gave up, and with much persistence he has learnt to manage his pain effectively.

AFTER SURGERY 2014

During and following this treatment, he also undertook a rigorous plan of plant based eating, supplements, juicing and treatments such as Ozone therapy to alkalise the body and boost his immune system.  Solon has remained vigilant in his fight against cancer and I am so proud of everything he has done to fight it in order to continue living a full life with the children and me.

In spite of all the conventional treatments, and his strict plant based eating plan, we received the devastating news in February 2017, that the cancer has returned to his liver involving one golf ball sized tumour with further smaller lesions. Unfortunately, the specialists have only offered further chemotherapy for Solon, with little guarantees of success. However in true Solon style, he has maintained his determination to fight this illness and has some thoughts for further treatment.

Since the initial diagnosis we have struggled with the ongoing uncertainty of Solon’s prognosis, managing the emotional needs of our children, having little to no family support here in Australia, maintaining our relationship and understandable financial hardship due to Solon’s inability to work. Our journey, like many of those who have battled this illness, has not been easy but we are not ready to give up and let the cancer destroy our family.

To aid us in Solon’s remarkable fight against cancer and to give our family a chance of staying together for as long as possible we have set up this GO FUND ME ACCOUNT to raise much needed funds for further treatment overseas at The "OASIS OF HOPE" Hospital, Mexico. It specializes in conventional and alternative Cancer treatments not yet offered here in Australia. We also need support to relocate back to NZ were we will have more family support to go through the next stage of our battle.

Although there is a total target, this can be separated into two stages as follows

STAGE. 1           Initial Treatment:              $42,500

STAGE. 2           Follow-up Treatment:      $17,500

Any additional funds over and above this, if this were the case would be used to fund ongoing treatment costs which are costly at best.

Any help would be much appreciated and we thank you in advance.
Any questions will be happily answered.
