Raised by 54 people in 6 months

The last 90 days of protests have completely changed the Nicaraguan social and political field. It has also cost the lives of +350 peaceful protestors, the majority college students.

This Solidarity Fund is designed to help grassroots organizations with their logistical and material needs. This fund will be supervised by a committee of 6 women of Managua who have direct contact with different organizations that have been active non-stop since this all began. They will meet with delegates from different sectors in order to distribute micro-funds depending on needs.

Some immediate and future needs to support protesters and organizers in the streets and in safe houses:

-Medical Supplies (Med kits, Medical Trainning)
-Phone Call Credits
-Transportation needs (Taxis, Gas)
-Food for caravans of folks that enter Managua

If you want to know directly which organizations this Fund will be helping or if you have specific questions about the situation in Nicaragua you can email the committee of activists organizing this GoFundMe at solidarity.nicaragua@gmail.com

But know that these organizations are under the threat of persecution and harassment.

In full transparency, my name is Lukas La Riviere and I am a United States citizen currently living in the US; however, I have many close friends living and working in Nicaragua and have been keeping close communication with them about what has been going on and helping with outreach to international media.

I will post Bi-Weekly updates sent to me from the organizers of how this fund is being used.

Please only share this GoFundMe with people that you trust.

Hi friends!
Thank you all so much for continuing the help and support! Things in Nicaragua are getting very complicated, but fortunately there is a lot more coverage!
You generous support has helped people all over Managua and neighbor cities! We continue to work with several on the ground organizers and we give the money directly in cash so that they can use it as it fits best depending on the needs.

hi friends, its been a very rough week.
Total murders so far are now over +350.
The students at UNAN have been raided out. And the community of Monimbo has been attacked but the OAS, demonstrated that we have the support of the vast majority of the Latin American community.
Ortega on his speech today basically said that he would escalate the situation in order to secure peace. There's been a new Terrorism Act/Law approved that basically criminalized any kind of anti-government protest.
Your support has helped and will continue to help immensely. Thank you for everything. Keep sharing and spreading the word, we really appreciate it!
