New wheels for my chair

Beschermde donatie
I am a c5/6 complete quadriplegic and have been pushing a manual chair for 23 years. I have been married nearly 14 years and have 3 kids, aged 12 and 7-year-old twins. I have attached pictures for you of my family.. they are such a joy and support. My kids are full of fun and my husband is our rock.

I was pushing up to 4 miles a day last year when my back just decided to quit absorbing the shocks without pain. I was bedridden for several months, saw multiple doctors and did every test, but nothing helped. Eventually I came off of the pain meds but now if I go over rough surfaces or a bump the pain comes back. I can't be as healthy and I can't play with my kids and travel like before. A lot of the help I used to be able to provide to our family has evaporated with my back pain and my husband now has even more on his plate. He still never complains.

This product will make a fuller and more productive life possible again. Visit Softwheel's website to learn about how amazing this invention is: http://softwheel.technology/theacrobat/

From the time I broke my neck training for AAU Nationals in gymnastics, I had never felt truly disabled. I always took adversity as a challenge and felt I could do most things that people said I couldn't. I was told I would never push my own chair and would have to use an electric. I never even tried one, working tirelessly to gain independence. Here is a great article the Chicago Tribune wrote about me less than a year after my accident.

The back trouble I've suffered has put a damper on my life. I've been nearly house bound since last year, afraid to go too far; afraid to be active and it is discouraging. I have been feeling really down for the first time, having a hard time seeing a way forward.

When I learned about this shock absorbing wheel, I felt immediately that if I could raise enough money to purchase them my life would change for the better.

The money I raise will be used to purchase a set of these wheels. Anything over the cost  needed will be donated to the 501c3 non-profit where I hold the position of  co-chairman of the board, The Abilities Alliance of Northern Illinois.  (http://www.abilitiesalliance.org/)

If I can raise more than $6,000 I will buy a second set of wheels to donate to a needy individual like myself through my non-profit.

I know there are many with more urgent needs, but I know this will improve my life and the lives of my children. I try to be an ambassador for the disabled and effect change for the better. Having the ability to get out and about again will help me in my volunteer work for AANI and the Arts Council in my town and further my goal to spread hope and positivity. My children will enjoy more outdoor activities with their mom and lead more healthful lives because of it.

I cannot thank you enough for considering a donation. It will change my life and my family's lives and if I get my way, the lives of everyone I meet.Save
