Social Unity

I'm launching a nonprofit this summer called Social Unity.  It's mission is to empower underserved communities and nonprofits to better leverage social marketing to better serve our world while saving many of our urban youth from the vortex of poverty and economic disadvantage.  Our tagline is "Close the Chasm".  Check out the website at www.socialunity.org.  This is labor of love for me (meaning I'm volunteering).

Social Unity is a 12-week program that changes lives of people who are living +/- 20% of the poverty line.  Even if a person has a job making the paltry $7.25 minimum wage in PA, they are living below the poverty threshold of $15K/yr.  Many of the beneficiaries we aim to serve must work multiple jobs just to eat... let alone "get ahead".  And they cannot participate in the Uber economy because that requires a car....to which they have no access.  Social Unity offers a free, immersive social marketing certification program to underserved but motivated individuals who are then guaranteed placement into an internship within a nonprofit organization. They have virtually no access to these types of opportunities today and we want to change this reality.

Graduates gain a marketable skill set, improved confidence, leadership abilities, and a broad understanding of the nonprofit community and its interactions. Our goal is to increase their salaries by 100%, on average, and then set them on the path to a fulfilling career and breaking the perpetual cycle of poverty for their families.

The first cohort will matriculate the first week of October and the goal of this campaign is to raise additional seed money to earn our 501c3 status by then and launch the program.  The cost is roughly $2K per student.   Proceeds will go directly the initial equipment purchase (i.e. refurbished laptops for the students, social marketing software subscriptions, etc) and the cost of social marketing certification programs for the first cohort of students.  I hired my first employee to help recruit the fall cohort of students.

No amount is too small and I really appreciate the consideration.  A donation of $100 or more gets you a kick ass Social Unity t-shirt (see picture).   If you can't donate, I totally understand.  All I ask is that you share the campaign link on your Facebook, Instagram and/or Linked In pages.  Word of mouth awareness is, in fact, a donation in kind!

Thank you for your support.
