"Sober But Never Clean" Pilgrimage!

After succumbing to alcoholism and drug addiction in December 2009, I entered a treatment facilty in Abbotsford, BC. As a professional comedian, I thought my career was over, but with the insight and support of the counsellors at KingHaven Treatment Centre for Men, and the strength and love of fellow alcoholics and addicts, I learned how to do my job of stand-up comedy sober. "Sober But Never Clean" tells the story of how I got into stand-up, how it almost killed me, and how I do it sober now. After workshopping the show, I got the opportunity to perform it at KingHaven five years after I was a client there. That experience changed my view of what I could do with this talent of making people laugh. That is where the idea of a "pilgrimage" came from. I want to use my story, and the gratitude I feel for being in recovery, to contribute to the recovery of others. If one person can see they can still follow their dreams in sobriety, then I think it will be worth it. And if I can entertain people while I do that - that's gravy. I know many people from many different walks of life, who love to support me in anyway they can, and I honestly think this is worth the support.
