I am 11 years old and I am from Venezuela. I am currently living with my mom and dad in Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation. I like painting, baking cookies and enjoy life God gave me accompanied by my family and friends.
I came to Miami last November after being diagnosed with a tumor in the brain stem, which doctors called DIPG -Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. This tumor is inoperable and it is not possible to take sample of it, because of the sensitive place where it is located.
While at Jackson Memorial Hospital, for several months I was given chemotherapy and radio therapy, to prolong my life, but despite their efforts and the excellent care the doctors, nurses, and staff gave me it failed to change the survival prognosis of my condition. According to the scientific statistic the survival rate for those affected by this disease is very low and life expectancy is 12 months from the time of diagnosis. These twelve (12) months already passed, but my family and I continue to believe that by the Glory of the Almighty God that my health will be restored.
Though traditional medicine currently has no more options available for me, except palliative treatments, this has not prevented my parents continue to seek available options to give me support. At this moment I am being given nutritional and energy support. For these purposes, it is necessary to acquire from reliable sources, nutrients and materials that are costly.
Mom and Dad take care of me all day and night, because at this moment I can not move or speak, but they move and feed me, they interpret and cater to my needs. Soy de Venezuela, tengo solo 11 años de edad, actualmente vivo, con mi papá y mi mamá, en la casita de la Fundación Ronald McDonald House Charities. Me gusta pintar, hornear galletas y disfrutar la vida que Dios me dio acompañada de mi familia y amigos.
En noviembre del año pasado llegué a Miami luego de haber sido diagnosticada con un tumor en el tallo cerebral, el cual los médicos conocen como DIPG - Glioma Pontino Intrínseco y Difuso. Ese tumor es inoperable y no es posible tomar muestra del mismo, debido al delicado lugar en que se encuentra.
En el Jackson Memorial Hospital, me dieron quimioterapia y radio terapia, por varios meses, para prolongar mi vida, pero a pesar de sus esfuerzos y la excelente atención que me otorgaron los médicos, enfermeros, y el personal en general,no se logró cambiar el pronostico de supervivencia de esta enfermedad. La ciencia da a los afectados por esta patología una esperanza de vida es de 12 meses contados desde el momento del diagnostico. Estos doce (12) meses ya transcurrieron, pero mi familia y yo seguimos creyendo que la Gloria del Todopoderoso se ha manifestado.
La medicina tradicional actualmente no tiene más opciones disponible para aplicarme, excepto tratamientos paliativos, pero esto no ha impedido que mis padres sigan buscando opciones curativas. Ellos han encontrado algunos médicos, quienes en forma altruista nos están dando apoyo nutricional y energétic. Para estos fines, se precisa adquirir de fuentes confiables, nutrientes e insumos que son costosos.
Papá y mamá me cuidan todo el día y la noche, porque en este momento no puedo moverme ni hablar, pero ellos me mueven, alimentan, interpretan y atienden a mis necesidades.
