South Mason Youth Soccer Fields
South Mason Youth Soccer Club (SMYSC) is a non-profit organization supporting the kids of Mason county.
Through the game of soccer SMYSC strives to give the children of the Shelton area an opportunity to learn sportsmanship, gain self-confidence, make friendships and learn soccer and team building skills that will last them their entire lives.
Over the years we've had many fields in operation and have held State Championship Tournaments and year round games bringing in thousands of players and their families to spend money here in Shelton and at the soccer park.
The soccer park has become a place of community pride and most recently had a State Cup win (1st placement, 2nd place and two 3rd place teams)! Through soccer we have seen a blending of cultures as well with the inclusion of our Hispanic population, both players and coaches.
Today the park fields are in great need. After declining volunteerism and constant demands on the fields, the grass is struggling to grow and the clubs do not have the funds to get the fields to where they need to be for our youth players.
Recently we had our soccer park fields tested and estimated, the repairs and maintenance needed will cost the club $23,000 a year (this does not include other operating expenses that we have budgeted). SMYSC relies solely on fund-raising to maintain our fields and receives no funds from the city or the county to do so.
We hope that our community can pull together and get our fields where they need to be so we can continue to impact our South Mason Youth in a postive way.
