Bek Moore Documentary

Donation protected

Bek Moore was, and arguably still is, a prolific Australian musican who passed away earlier this year. She meant a lot to a lot of people, and I would like to explore and document that to its fullest.

This is a quote from The Guardian;
'Bek Moore – queen of the unruly, a scoundrel, no bullshit, a fervent supporter of DIY and underground Australiana, her freak flag waving high, courageous, mischievous – no longer with us. Not possible, please. Not possible.  She was always the greatest part of Brisbane to me. The unsettling 1990s (and reformed 2010s) kiddie-punk band Clag – formed with Moore’s high school friends Rachael Cooke and Alison Bolger – were a beacon of weirdness, surreal humour and unrepentant femaleness at a time when in the main Australian music seemed to be all macho swagger and grunge throwbacks.'

I'm an interviewer, documentary film-maker and sound artist. I have a special interest in intimate stories, and bringing out voices which may not consider themselves important. Bek and I were meant to be doing an interview for my own film documentary shortly before she passed away, but we didn't get around to it. So I have decided to make a documentary just for her, to make up for it.

The doco will be mainly interviews with people whom Bek Moore took under her wing or influenced throughout her life. A sound-only documentary would be a lot simpler and cheaper. But I am setting a high funding target, as I am open to the idea of doing a film, but it will be a lot more expensive.

Primarily, funds will be used to buy; - a pre amp for my shotgun microphone,  - expenses that go along with interviewing people if you aren't paying them (taxis, hospitality, cover charges), - employing a boom mic operator. Beyond that - a second sound technician with more experience. Even further still, if it is a very successful campaign, and I decide to make a film instead - a full sensor DSLR film camera, - a fast lens for nighttime gig environments, - return ticket to Brisbane. - three external harddrives. - a more experienced video editor.

There is a tribute gig coming up, and so it's not a huge rush, but I would like to start documenting the organisation of that, as I'm sure it's a time for a lot of reflection.

I would be incredibly grateful for any donations anyone gives, no matter what size, I could manage with a very small amount. But please, share this campaign all over the place, especially if you want it to be a movie.
