MuseumNext's Slice for Smithsonian
Can you donate $5 to send a slice of pizza to Smithsonian workers affected by the Shutdown?
I want to show support with workers at the Smithsonian by making a gesture to put a smile on their faces at this difficult time.
The Federal shutdown has left many furloughed from work, and some essential staff working without pay.
We will organize a giant Pizza order to deliver those working a lunch on us, demonstrating that they have the support of the global museum community and that we wish to do something to help.
How will this make a difference?
The Federal Government Shutdown is creating genuine hardship for those who work for these institutions.
While I wish we could do more, by donating to send a slice to a colleague at Smithsonian you are taking action to show those working during the Shutdown that they have our support.
Who's behind this?
MuseumNext is a global community of grass roots museum professionals. Our community have been looking for a way to show solidarity with our colleagues suffering because of the shutdown.

I've now transferred the money raised to Friend's of National Zoo who have agreed to organise a Pizza feast for Smithsonian workers.
They'll take some pictures, so I hope to share those with you all soon.
Please note: For some strange reason the donations everyone has made have shown up on bank statements as 'Buy Twitter'.
This is your kind donation to buy Pizza, please don't stop the payment as fraud as the money has now gone to Friends of National Zoo.
