Today is a sad day here in the Calgary LHP community. It has been our tragic misfortune to find out that the founder of the Torches of Lucifer, Skyler Rasmussen, has been found deceased, close friends and family have asked to keep the circumstances private.
Skyler began Torches in the middle of October 2015 as an LHP study group. He had joined The Greater Church of Lucifer at the same time and he was rapidly placed in a leadership position with the rank of Luminary, which is only slightly below that of an actual Archon. He had established a warm relationship with Michael W. Ford, his intimate partner Hope Marie Ford, and Jeremy Crow. In a short period of time Skyler had done a tremendous amount to elevate awareness as regards to the Left Hand Path in Calgary. He had prolifically written many articles that he posted on the Torches FB page. He conducted in-person gatherings at the Calgary Public Library and he enjoyed discussions of a varied nature with an appreciation for multiple viewpoints. He did not stand on a dogmatically rigid platform when it came to the LHP. He understood that the Path was wide and deep and there were many different approaches to the cultivation of one’s own Black Flame.
At the time of this writing he was aggressively working on crafting his own Luciferian manifesto and the Fords had expressed interest in publishing his material.
By the fall of 2016 Torches was in a state of rapid expansion. Skyler’s tireless efforts to branch out and meet like-minded individuals on the Path had yielded fruitful results. Membership was growing and he was becoming a well-known figure not only in Calgary, but in various parts of the world, online. He strove to offer a message that paid homage to the past but was also contemporary and modernistic. He truly had high hopes and great ambitions as regards to the Luciferian message.
He was also a good son. At the time of his untimely passing he was also taking care of his mother who suffers from various debilitating issues. It’s with that in mind that this page is being set up. Any contributions to help out his mother would be gratefully appreciated as she has only whatever she is receiving from her disability pension to sustain her. Anything that can be done to assist her during this terrible time would be truly appreciated.
On the LHP we make it a psycho-spiritual necessity of deciding when to perform acts of positivity and when to do the opposite. Now is the time to act from that wellspring of collective positivity for one of our own.
Skyler Rasmussen will be missed, mourned, and most importantly, he will never be forgotten. He was a bit of a maverick, and maybe even an iconoclast in the LHP, and that kind of loss in any community is the bitterest because he first and foremost believed in the individual pursuit of self-excellence. He didn’t do well with dogmas and he insisted that all member on the Path make their own choices about how to illuminate their own Black Flame and maintain it in their own individual fashion.
Once more, anything that can be done to assist his mother will be gratefully appreciated.
