Skills Development Center

The fishing village of Katosi in Uganda has been severely impacted by an outbreak of HIV/AIDS in recent years. Families have been disrupted, children orphaned, and most of the residents of Katosi are forced to live far below the poverty line. Katosi Inter-Community Development Alliance (KIDA), a community-based, non-profit organization, was founded in 2012 by three local men to transform the futures of the most vulnerable individuals of Katosi, women and children .

We at KIDA have been operating a small-scale hairdressing and tailoring skills program for the young women and widows of Katosi since 2016. Upon completion of the program, the 30 current graduates have been given the necessary supplies (sewing machines, salon supplies, etc.) to use their new skills to support themselves and their families. Our current goal is to expand the Skills-Development Centre where young people, widows, and single mothers can attain these and other practical, vocational skills.

We need your help raising the necessary money to break ground on the center by the end of 2018. We have already purchased the plot of land that will house the new center, but to complete the full project we seek to raise €10,000.

Our first step towards €10,000 is to raise €500 for the architectural plan to be drawn up.

Please donate and share to help make the KIDA Skills-Devlopment Centre a reality!

This Gofundme campaign was a contribution from two of our volunteers from Germany and Austria! If you are interested in woking directly with us at KIDA, please check out our website  for more opportunities to get involved as well as more information on our successful past projects!
