 SAN FRANCISCO, CA
For the past 13 years, the St. James Infirmary  has operated the nations only Occupational Health & Safety Clinic by & for sex workers out of a storefront facility at 1372 Mission Street. In this building we’ve provided primary medical care, social services, mental health care, holistic care, food, clothing, education and housing assistance to more than 4,000 sex workers in the Bay Area.  Since our comrades at the TGI Justice Project moved in with us a year ago, they’ve hosted weekly letter writing nights to support and advocate for transgender, gender-variant & intersex people in prisons, jails and detention centers, and have operated a grassroots re-entry program for those returning home. Together, we’ve built an incredible community here in the middle of the SOMA.

This summer we learned our  building was being sold, and that our lease would not be renewed. We need to be out of our space by the end of the year, and we hope to start getting a new space ready before then so that we can reopen with no breaks in services. The funds raised through this campaign will help us to:

·      Pay for tenant improvements and renovations to our new space

·      Cover relocation expenses

·      Chip away the significant rent increase we know this market will demand of us

Every dollar we raise from this campaign will be matched up to $25,000 from a dreamy anonymous donor. That means we have a chance to raise the $50,000 we need for the first stage of this move in half the time! We can’t afford to miss this opportunity, which will seriously soften the blow of this difficult move. Please donate today and share this campaign with your friends.

On behalf of the entire St. James Infirmary and TGIJP family- THANK YOU!!!

Dear Community,
Today marks one month since we announced our displacement and launched this campaign. In that month, you have exceeded our wildest expectations, surpassing our fundraising goal with lightning speed and filling our hearts with your outpouring of love and support. We've received personal messages from people who have received services at SJI over the past 16 years telling us how it changed their health and wellness. We've received support from organizations that we've admired from across the country, and we've received donations ranging from $1 to $5,000. It's been incredible to feel your support during this time of great challenge and change.

Between our matching donors, the grassroots donations given through this GoFundMe page, the checks received in the mail and the cash dropped in our donation box, we've raised over $75,000 in the last month- 150% of what we sought out to do! Thanks to each and every one of you for making that happen!

We learned this week that the sale of our building was finalized. Fortunately, we are very close to having a new site secured, and with the funds you helped us raise, we are confident that our next chapter will be a beautiful one. As we've reached our goal, and the month has reached its end, we are closing this campaign. To keep up with the news on our move, visit our website at www.stjamesinfirmary.org and click "sign up for our newsletter" on the right hand column.

We can't wait to celebrate and warm our new space with you all in the new year. Til then, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!!!

Dear community,

The outpouring of love and support for our relocation efforts continues to astound and inspire us. Having met our initial fundraising goal ahead of deadline, another set of donors have come forth to encourage our campaign with a $10,000 matching pledge. We now have 10 weeks left to secure a site, renovate, and relocate our operations in order to reopen without disruption to service. With those 10 weeks being right in the middle of the holiday season, it’s going to be a tight turnaround! To ensure that we can pull it off, we are increasing our grassroots fundraising goal to $40,000. This money will allow us to cover our construction and relocation costs without having to drain resources from our programs or staffing budget. Please help us keep this campaign going by donating, sharing, and spreading the word! The challenge before us is great, but with your continued support, we will meet it!

With love and gratitude,

St. James Infirmary & TGIJP

COMMUNITY!!! What an incredible feeling you give us! In just three days we have raised over $25,000 to help jumpstart our move! With our matching donor, that’s $50,000 we can now use to start working on renovations, tenant improvements, and relocation expenses in our future home, which is becoming more and more real to us every day. We never expected to raise this money so quickly, nor were we prepared for the incredible outpouring of love and support we’ve received.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone who contributed so generously, who shared so widely, and who expressed so openly what the SJI & TGIJP mean to you.

We will continue to fundraise toward the cost of our new rent, so please keep sharing, please keep donating, please keep us on your lips and in your hearts. We are so much stronger because of you. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
