About 7 years ago, my older sister Natalie Jarvis, was diagnosed with a rare Auto-Immune Disease called Anti-Synthetase Syndrome (A.S.S).
A.S.S causes multiple symptoms like muscle & joint inflammation, but the worst symptom is Interstital Lung Disease (I.L.D).
I.L.D causes scarring of the lungs, which causes the lungs to stiffen making it difficult to breathe; and unfortunately, it is irreversible & progressive. 
As of today, my sister has less than 50% lung capacity and about 25% oxygen entering her bloodstream. 
Her doctors in Nova Scotia strongly believe she is a great candidate for a Double Lung Transplant, but for that my sister & mother have to travel to Toronto in February for more testings and to meet with the surgeons before the procedure. 
Because her health is such a high priority, they will have to stay for at least 3-4 months until the transplant is able to happen plus recovery time. 
Although there is no cost for the surgery itself, things like housing, food, travel and other expenses are not covered and we unfortunately are unable to cover all of the costs.
