I currently live in a fairly large house that has had a number of 'Brothers' that all affectionately call the landlord, Mary Jo, "Mom" and in return calls us her "Hard-Luck Boys." In the past six years we've all suffered greatly, but Mary Jo and her husband have been there to support us all through our various misfortunes.

I have Chronic ITP.  Through stress management and cautious behavior I manage to stay alive. As a senior in high school, my mother became ill from Helicobacter pylori, an infection in her stomach that did not allow her to take her medication. The compounded stress of having ITP, no family income, attempting to care for my mother, a brat of a half-brother hardly old enough to take care of himself, failing grades, and constant bullying in and out of school nearly pushed me to commit suicide. I became so ill, mentally and physically,  that the ulcers in my mother's stomach reached a point where she was on the verge of death. In an attempt to prevent it, I moved out of the house a few months before turning 18. After a few weeks of resistance from all sources, I came to live where I do now. Making that choice led to the full recovery of my mother and in the past 5 years since has reformed both my mother and brother to become very sweet people. My health is still in the toilet but since moving here I have been moderately alright, but due to the crippling intolerance to stress, I have been unable to work for longer than a couple days without falling ill. This caused me endless problems when in school and has since made it incredibly difficult to contribute to my cost of living.

Of the brothers, Sam lost both of his parents to alcohol-abuse induced liver failure while in school and was essentially homeless. He moved in almost immediately at the pleading of Mary Jo, and has since chose to live here to attend community college. He's currently finishing his degree downstate and plans to return.

Our "Frequent-Flyer Brother", Deacon, has been in and out following a number of family-sourced, hard luck like the rest of us. He's been attending college and working two jobs to support himself and his family ever since he was old enough. We've been friends for years and I admire his dedication to his family. It's something I could never see myself able to accomplish.

Eric and Andy were a special case. Both were subject to increased stress from their family to move out, and initially had problems doing so to the point of being nearly pushed out the doors. They ended up here when they landed jobs and could pay rent. Eric has since moved away after many altercations between him and the other residents made it too uncomfortable for all parties.

The trio that has lived here forever, Mary Jo, Tim, Dylan, all suffered greatly from the loss of Mary Jo's mother, nicknamed "Ahma" when Dylan could not pronouce 'Grandma.'  She passed away in the ICU after years suffering from severe dementia. The brothers and I spent many months helping them stay together and deal with their difficult experience. A few months after the loss, Mary Jo injured herself at work and lost most use of her dominant arm, losing her job in the process. This dealt a large blow to the house's resolve, and were it not for Dylan getting a lucky break with his new job and Tim's amazing work ethic, we would be living in  total poverty.

I have never been able to pay rent, something that bothers be immensely. Great lengths were made to not file for disability as I feel it would be giving up. Sadly, I don't even qualify for disability due to careful behavior. Instead, as an attempt to support the house, I decided to restart my Youtube channel for the much needed income. However, in early February my laptop's GPU totally fried with no hope for recovery. I am now unable to do anything productive with my skills to provide for myself or my family, and do not have the time to attend college before I will be unable to even buy toilet paper or shampoo. Food stamps, paid for by you readers, has sustained me for a while. I have been denied repeatedly for cash assistance because I lack a car or driver's license to attend mandated medical exams that are typically held hundreds of miles away in the government's attempt to prevent you and I both from getting the help we need.

I've made a series of plans to pull us, starting with myself, from this hole we can't help but dig. I plan to finish building the computer I started last November to jumpstart my Youtube's gaming content and get a steady enough income to pay bills as well as bring you, my Youtube subscribers, with me on a journey through life as a whole. I also plan on creating and sponsoring my own series of charity livestreams to raise awareness for and fund research into a host of bleeding disorders with the Platelet Disorder Support Foundation.
