Sindy Women's Surf El Salvador
While working on a short film in El Salvador about the exciting energy and potential for the future of women's surfing, we had the absolute honor of meeting Sindy Portillo, possibly the only local female surfer at an amazing wave called Las Flores.
Sindy is a very talented surfer, and she told us about her dream of one day traveling the world to represent El Salvador as a surfer. We saw her talent and kind heart, and instantly, we wanted a core part of our project to commit to making her dream come true.
As such, we're setting a goal to raise at least $2,000 to pay for Sindy's travel (including surfboards), room, and board to Mexico and entry fee for the annual Mexi-Log Fest and realize her dream of representing her country and supporting a burgeoning women's surfing community in a beautiful place in El Salvador. We hope you can help make her dream come true and have a meaningful impact on supporting women's surfing in El Salvador and beyond.
Any additional money we raise will go first to purchasing more clean water filters to be distributed in the local community by Leah's Changing Tides Foundation and next to purchasing soft top surfboards to provide to Sindy to teach other local women to surf and develop the women's surfing community in her hometown. If we are able to raise more than $5,000, we will be able to work directly with Sindy to develop more infrastructure to support women's surfing in El Salvador.
