Amal Shurbaji and Sidney Chang passed away on June 3 in a tragic accident. Thankfully, all the costs of the candlelight memorial for both of the girls were anonymously donated. The families are also fortunate enough to have the costs of the funerals covered. Current and future donations will be contributed to a scholarship dedicated to the girls as the Shurbaji-Chang Scholarship. The scholarship is planned to have the final amount raised split into halves. One half of the scholarship is planned to go to somebody pursuing the medical field (for Sidney) while the other half is planned to go to somebody pursuing the law field (for Amal).

Amal had just recently graduated from Stockdale High School with honors and was planning on attending UC Berkeley with a major in Political Science.

Sidney had just completed her freshman year at Stockdale High School and was an exceptional student who was also involved in the Medical Academy program.
