Help Sacred Heart Schoolchildren Enjoy a New Playground!

For over 60 years, Sacred Heart School has been a strong and vibrant institution in Lyndhurst, educating children from Pre-K through 8th grade.

The playground, current used by our Small Blessings Pre-K program, is about 25 years old and in urgent need of replacement. Friends of Sacred Heart School are helping fund a new playground that will be enjoyed by the children for years to come.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to fund the purchase and installation of new playground equipment and rubber surfacing to create a fun and safe environment for children from Pre-K UP TO 8th grade.

We hope to raise these funds as soon as possible so that the new playground can be open in time for fall 2018.

This summer, about two dozen volunteer parents and Knights of Columbus demolished the old playground area, beautified the school grounds, dug 39 holes for the new posts, and assembled the brand new playground equipment. Special thanks to our donors, sponsors, and volunteers who have helped us get to this point. We are grateful as well to The Home Depot of Secaucus and North Bergen for donating concrete and materials for the installation. This collective effort brought our community together, saved the school about $10,000, and moves us closer to giving SHS students a great new place to learn and play! Raising the remaining funds will help us complete this project, with brand new rubber surfacing, paneling, and a children's garden.
