The Shimmy Shack food truck was a victim of a crime on Wednesday night July 27 in South Lyon, Michigan. Shimmy Shack is Michigan’s first and only 100% vegan AND gluten free food truck. Voted in the top 5 veg food trucks in the US in 2015, Shimmy Shack has been motoring around metro Detroit since 2013.
Between the hours of midnight and 8am on July 27 a fruit punch colored liquid was intentionally poured into the gas tank. The next morning the liquid had wreaked havoc on the fuel lines and several parts of the engine. This caused us to take the truck to a mechanic who drained the fuel and discovered the fruit punch. This crime has caused Shimmy Shack to cancel committed events. Much food was lost due to it going unused. Many thousands of dollars will be the total cost of this action.
We are hoping insurance covers some of it. Our deductible is $1,000.
