Sheriff's Posse Unit Inauguration

Merced County California – Merced County Sheriff, Vernon H. Warnke in conjunction with the Merced County Sheriff’s Posse Members are slated to participate in the upcoming 2017 Presidential Inauguration on
January 20, 2017, in Washington D.C. Sheriff Warnke and Sheriff’s Posse members formally announced their participation this afternoon, at a 1:00 p.m., press conference, in front of the Historic Courthouse in Merced.
Sheriff Warnke and Posse members received formal notice of participation from the White House on January 16, 2016, after the successful completion and submission of the application process.
The 2017 inauguration will earmark the fourth time Sheriff’s Posse members have participated in a Presidential Inauguration. The first time was in 1971 for President Richard M. Nixon, followed by the 1976 Nation’s Bicentennial Celebration, and most recently in 2005 when President George W. Bush was elected.
Staff members are currently slated to spend four days in Washington, while participating in some of the various festivities and the Inaugural Parade. Sheriff Warnke and the Posse will formally represent the Community Members and Law Enforcement Municipalities of Merced County, and the California State Sheriff’s Association.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Posse came to formation in the mid 1940’s, as a “Goodwill Ambassador” for the Sheriff’s Office. The unit is currently comprised of various community members. Over the course of its existence it has played an integral part in the Merced County Search and Rescue Team, and regularly participates in various community public relations events and marketing the brand of the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff's Posse Member must raise in the sum of $60k to fund this hisotric opportunity. The money raised will help fund the following:
* Horse and Equipment Transportation $25,000.00
* Airfare, Lodging, Travel Associated Exspenses
