UPDATE: February 6, 2017 1:40 p.m.
I have turned over access to the donations to the Austin Community Foundation and all funds will to to the "Travis County Stronger Together" Fund and be dispersed to the organizations that were funded through Sheriff Hernandez Department. Thanks again so much to all those that have donated. Thanks, Kevin

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to post an update that on Monday, February 6th we will be transferring these funds to https://www.traviscountystrongertogether.com which is the account set up by Austin Community Foundation that was started two days after I opened this Go Fund Me Account. They will be co-sponsors when I transfer this to them tomorrow so any other funds that come in will go to that account. As of Sunday , February 5th the Travis County #StrongerTogether Account was up to $77,300 and we will be adding over $7,000 to that so it should go up to over $85,000 sometime on Monday. I will be posting the link here and on my twitter main page so that contributions will still continue to come in for these important programs through Travis County. Thanks again for all your support. Kevin

Hi , As friends of Travis Co. I'm glad to see we have donations coming in for the Sheriffs Department. All funds will be turned over to Judge Sarah Eckhardt to be dispersed to the departments that receive funding from the Grant money that Gov. Greg Abbott pulled from Travis County Sheriff's Office. These funds also were taken from several other departments in the county. Hopefully we will be able to make a difference in supporting Travis County which is under attack by Gov. Abbott. Thanks, Kevin
Today, Feb. 1st Gov. Greg Abbott has taken away $1.5 million dollars from Travis County because of Sheriff Sally Hernandez not allowing herself to be bullied into becoming the ICE Police of Austin/Travis County. She will hold major offenders for ICE but not those whoe are minor offendors.  Greg Abbott like Donald Trump is trying to be the Dictator of Texas. Let's help raise this money for Travis County and show Gov. Abbott he cannot personally hand out and take away money at will.
Gov. Greg Abbott has followed through on his threat to cut off state funding for Travis County over its new "sanctuary" policy.

Abbott's office said Wednesday it has canceled criminal justice grants it usually administers to the county, whose sheriff, Sally Hernandez, recently announced her department would reduce its cooperation with federal immigration authorities when they request an inmate be flagged for possible deportation. The policy was set to go into effect Wednesday.

The move appears to target about $1.5 million Travis County was due to receive this year from the criminal justice division of the governor’s office. The division doled out $1.8 million to the county last year and has already paid out roughly $300,000 in 2017.

Hernandez, whose jurisdiction includes Austin, has showed no signs of backing down from the policy, even after Abbott raised the prospect she could be removed from office. The move came a day after Abbott named banning so-called "sanctuary cities" one of four emergency items in his State of the State speech.
