Shemel Mercurius, a 16 year old Guyanese teenager whose life was tragically taken from her due to gun violence, was shot and killed on Monday, May 31, 2016, in East Flatbush Brooklyn, NY. Shemel was killed in her apartment while baby-sitting her 3 year old cousin.
Shemel lived with me, Latoya Pryce, her aunt - since she moved to Brooklyn, NY. She had her whole life ahead of her and had great intentions of becoming a nurse after graduting from Edward Murrow High School. Shemel was always a vibrant person and enjoy helping others. No one should have to bury their 16 year old daughter.
Our family is asking the public for support to help with her homegoing service, burial arrangements and to start a scholarship in her name.
