$376,844 of $500,000 goal

Raised by 2,479 people in 5 months
Shaun Oliver lost his life, saving children caught in a rip in Wollongong.

He was faced with the terrible decision when he heard the cries for help and, without a thought for his own safety, launched himself into the water.

Sadly, Shaun leaves behind a devoted wife and three young children.

If you feel like contributing any funds will be used to help his young family in this terrible time.

Dear friends,

All your support, financial and emotional, has moved us beyond measure. Obviously nothing can replace this loss but to know that our heartache is shared by so many, to know that Shaun’s sacrifice has been recognised, is something we can hold to.

Shaun's wife Carla, his brother Bill and sisters Clare and Amie have reached out to their friends and families on Facebook to share their thoughts and remembrances of Shaun. If there is one common thought shared by everyone who knew Shaun, it is that nobody was surprised when they heard what Shaun had done.

Sacrifice was in his nature.

We really have nothing new to add. We are all still in shock. Shaun is still gone, everyone involved is still struggling to come to terms with what has happened.

If we could, we would like to please ask you all to share Shaun’s story one more time. We feel awful asking for more when we have received so much, but we intend to do the very best we can to look after those three kids left behind.

Shaun would never have asked for help in life but in passing we’re glad to take that burden from him and ask on his behalf.

Regards

-The Oliver Family

Thank you.

We are overwhelmed by your generous contributions and messages of support. It has been incredible to see how Shaun's sacrifice has touch so many people.

If we could please ask you to share Shaun's story and this fundraising page on your social media (again if you have already) we would greatly appreciate it.

To best support his young family we need to raise as much money as quickly as possible. Shaun's story will soon fade from our screens but Shaun's wife, kids and family will continue needing support for a very long time to come.

Again, thank you.
