Shani Tsfoni's Recovery
Donation protected
Friends, family, and wider community, we reach out today with an urgent call for help. On May 31st our sister, Shani Tsfoni, was struck by a car while jogging in New York.
She was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was found to have fractures in her arm and leg as well as a head injury. In addition to emergency surgery to correct the fractures, Shani has undergone an emergency craniotomy/craniectomy in order to relieve the swelling in her brain. Currently, she is in critical but stable condition. Her treatment team has kept her intubated and sedated to minimize the stress on her body.
As with most brain injuries, her prognosis is uncertain. We expect her to stay in the ICU in New York for at least two weeks. Our mother has not left her side and our father is flying from Israel to be with her in a couple of days. Our family hopes to eventually have Shani transferred to a hospital in Atlanta so as to be closer to us. She has a long road to recovery, but Shani is resilient and strong and we know she can overcome this.
We are asking today for help in supporting Shani and our family through this difficult time. As anyone can imagine, the medical expenses are more than our family can manage. We need help paying for Shani’s medical treatment. Any donation can make a difference in alleviating the financial burden on our family, and allow us to focus on getting Shani back to her smiling self.
Finally, in whatever version of prayer you practice, please hold Shani and our family in your hearts.
With love and gratitude,
Ariella & Yarden Tsfoni
(All donations will be sent to our mother, Laura Wiener)
