Update: We have a place lined up, but we don't have enough for the security deposit. We need a few hundred more, and while Caleb has a job, I still haven't found one and the first real paycheck will be over a week away! We have been sleeping on cement in places full of trash hoping cops don't make us leave... Caleb's job is working at a cold storage place, and he would have to sleep outside and wake up at 4:30 AM every day to do a difficult manual labor job. We can't keep this up long enough to make it to the first paycheck if we have nowhere to live...
Caleb (left) and me, Ellie (right) are struggling a lot... We are in Philadelphia with no money and nowhere to stay, having been kicked out from our previous home...
We don't have a car, so if we want to even have a chance to be able to work, we need transportation. Without it, even going from shelters to work would be impossible. One month for each of us would be enough, we could both make money in that time to live somewhere, but only if we can actually get between wherever we can sleep and whatever jobs we find.
We aren't asking for help paying rent, or anything like that... Just... Give us a chance to even begin trying to make a living.
A monthly pass for public transport is around 98 dollars. One for each of means we could reach anywhere in the city for whatever we need. Jobs, shelters, resources, hospitals... Even just friends. Having two would mean I am not glued to Caleb, and am not trapped whenever he goes out to work. I would be able to have my own job.
Thank you all for any help you give... It is so rare and difficult to find these days... We promise that we will make the most of what we receive.
Any money we get past the cost for two passes will go towards getting a prepaid simcard for and other necessities to facilitate keeping a job.
