Send the Ferreiras to the Olympics

After years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, Aspen native Alex Ferreira has qualified, in Freeskiing Halfpipe, for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. The Ferreiras are hardworking locals and Alex, and his sister Lourdes, were both born and raised here and came up in the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club. Alex's modest upbringing never stopped him from achieving his dreams, and reaching his goal of representing his country in the Olympics. It has taken years of traveling, training, long drives, injuries, setbacks and heartbreak to get to this point in his career. All along, his family has always been there to support him pursue his passion.

We have started this account to help the Ferreiras travel, support and cheer on their son, and brother, on the world's biggest stage. Just getting to the Olympics is a large financial burden,  and we're asking for the support of our fellow Aspenites in order to help offset some of the costs. They won't be staying in luxury accommodations, and Colleen is even planning on taking air mattresses. The funds will help with many of their basic needs. Olympic athletes are champions but, unfortunately, they aren't always compensated as such and the majority of the athlete's funding comes from their families.  Every donation helps, and none is too small.
