Hello Friends!
I am so excited to have qualified to represent Kansas City at the Women of the World Poetry Slam (WOWps) for the second year in a row!
Last year this competition was partially funded by an Inspiration Grant from ArtsKC. However, I do not have the same resources this year as it is rare that they would fund the same conference for an individual artist 2 years in a row. So this year I need your help!
The total price of this trip is $2000. To date with help from my community I have managed to raise $818. I have also paid the $150 registration fee out of pocket leaving $1032 for me to raise.
Thank you so much for your consideration in this. It takes a lot of personal investment, work, fundraising, and dedication to compete at this level and I am ever so thankful to have the support of so many people.
To date I have competed in 3 National Poetry Slam Team competitions (2015/2016/2017), 1 Women of the World Poetry Slam individual competition (2017), and 1 Regional Brick City Slam team competition (2017). I am also creating a Regional Poetry Festival in Kansas City called the Show me Show Down and will be traveling back to the National Poetry Slam team competition this year.
My goal is to ensure that Kansas City continuously has representation, both team and individual, for poetry on national stages. We are a town of exceptionally talented artists and we deserve this type of exposure!
