Send the DI Dazzlers to Globals

The DI Dazzlers (and sparkle)  are a group of five  6th  and 7th grade students who have been working together in Destination Imagination. The team meets a couple of times a week from October until March finding ways to solve a challenge by using creativity, engineering and talents. This year the Dazzlers won their Regional Tournament and moved on to the State Tournament. This past weekend they won their State Tournament and are now on their way to represent Massachusetts at the Global Tournament in Knoxville, TN. Globals will happen the week of May 22 so these kids have about 1 month to fundraise the costs for this once in a lifetime trip!!!
This year the team chose the Engineering Challenge which asked them to design, build and test load-bearing structures out of specific materials.  In order to be successful with this Challenge, they needed to:
-Design, build and test multiple free-standing structures that work together.
-Develop a strategy for placing structures to support as much weight as possible.
-Develop and present a collaborative solution to a global issue.
-Create and present two Team Choice Elements that highlight the team’s interests, skills, areas of strength, and talents.
The Dazzlers created a story, built structures and props. They did research on different countries and structures and structural design.  In addition to their Central Engineering Challenge they also needed to practice for their Instant Challenge which is an impromptu challenge they must complete without any prior knowledge.

To make it to Globals is an amazing feat!!! It is a dream come true! But, the Dazzlers won't be able to go without the help of family, friends, businesses, or the community. If they can raise the funds they need for attendance costs and travel, they will have the opportunity to meet with teams from all over the world who love working together and solving problems and challenges. They will be able to compete one more time for a chance to win the Global Tournament for their age level. Destination Imagination is a wonderful program that gives kids the power to be who they are yet learn to use their mind and talents in order to creatively solve problems while working together.
