As many of you may know, Sarnia’s own, Michael Marinaro has accomplished his lifelong dream! He will be representing Team Canada with his skating pairs partner, Kirsten Moore-Towers of St. Catharine’s, in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea in February. Michael’s parents, Bev and Albert Marinaro have supported his dreams for many years with the great personal costs that are associated with training, coaching, costumes and traveling to competitions. So many Sarnian’s are excited, proud, supportive, and can’t wait to cheer on Michael and Kirsten when they skate, not only representing Canada, but also the cities of Sarnia and St. Catharine’s. The cost for the parents to go to South Korea to cheer on Michael and Kristen is $25,000.00….very expensive. Since many people have expressed a desire to help defer this cost for Bev and Albert, we are setting up this Go Fund Me campaign.
Many of you may be aware that Bev has a broken pelvis (from a skating fall of all things) and is slowly mending. To assist her in bearing the very long flight to South Korea, we would like her to be as comfortable as possible, so it would benefit her greatly if they could fly first class. This is not something that they plan on doing, but it would be a nice gift from the community. The $25,000.00 cost to them does not include this upgrade. It would be much less difficult for Bev than sitting in a cramped economy seat for that length of time while trying to recuperate from her injury.
Please share this on your Facebook page and encourage all of Sarnia and Lambton County to show their support to this local family that has worked so hard for this moment. I also encourage you to get creative and have some mini fundraisers of your own in order to contribute to this campaign.
