Tess Johnson is headed to the Olympics! Let's help the rest of the Johnson family - Carol, TJ, Tommy, and Anabel -- get to Pyeongchang, South Korea, to support Tess and experience this incredible event!

Our Vail Valley local, Tess Johnson, was named to the 2018 U.S. Olympic Freestyle Ski Team. After years of dedication and hard work, her Olympic dream has come true. Her family has supported her all along the way. Now we're hoping that our community will come together to help the Johnsons with their travel expenses to South Korea. The Olympic Freestyle qualifying will take place on February 9, 2018, and the Women's Freestyle Competition on Feb. 11, 2018.

Tess (17) was born and raised in Vail, and is a senior at the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy (VSSA). She trained with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV). Tess has been competing on the World Cup tour at her family's expense since becoming the youngest woman ever named to the US Freestyle team at age 14. Last weekend, she had a 4th place finish at the final World Cup qualifying event.

Tickets to the Opening Ceremonies are over $400 each. We don't want the Johnson Family to miss it!

Let's get the Johnsons to South Korea to support Tess!

The video is from Tess in Japan one week after closing ceremonies. She took her first World Cup podium for a WIN in the duals competition. She is in the second half of the video dualing Britt Cox from Australia, the winner of the World Cup tour last year. Enjoy!

Dear Tess Supporters!

WOW is an understatement for the thrill we recently had at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The two weeks leading up to leaving for South Korea, although a blur now, were equally incredible with the outpouring of community support. Between the Go Fund Me, graciously set up by Shelly Jarnot, the fundraiser at Ein Prosit by Jeremy and Kerri Thelen, the Team Tess hats from Ski Town All Stars, we have been the beneficiary of the Vail Valley's outpouring of love and support. We took that love with us to the Bokwang Phoenix Park, the off the beaten path location of the mogul venue. Despite Siberian winds whipping in every 42 seconds, we felt your presence and knew you were with us as we screamed for Tess when she was in the gate. Who knows, maybe those winds helped bring you with us?

The enormity of those moments watching her compete, the Olympic spirit at Opening Ceremonies and attending other events was magical. Just to be there, for Tess, was priceless. We can't thank you all enough and will never forget this community's response to this amazing life achievement by your born and raised Tess. We know it meant the world to Tess to have her family there with her, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you again!

Love, Carol, TJ, Anabel, Tess and Tommy

PS- Tess won her first World Cup in Tazawako, Japan about a week ago! So her journey continues!!!!
We had the time of our lives! Thank you!

By now most of you have probably watched Tess compete, but just in case, here's an update. First up was the second qualifying run. The top ten qualifiers were already through to the finals. The other 20 women competed for 10 more spots. Tess rocked this run and finished in first place! Next, the 20 who made it through to the finals each skied one run to make the top 12 to move on. Tess had another great run and finished in 9th! Unfortunately, in the next round, none of the American women advanced to the final 6 (Super Final).

12th place in the world! Not too bad for a 17-year-old! Great job, Tess!

Throughout the event, the Johnsons were at the bottom of the course with huge, red, white, and blue, letters spelling out TESS! Carol posted, "Most amazing night of my life." Thanks to everyone for the incredible support of the Johnsons' Olympics!
Go TESS!
