Send Brent to Drama Centre London

Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to visit this page and have a gander at whats going on.

So. If you've arrived here, the chances are, you have probably enjoyed my video SO much that you're keen to find out a little more about the campaign, and how it will help me secure my place on the MA Screen Acting course at Drama Centre London?

Very wise of you - very wise indeed!

Just like any investment or donation, you want to know where your money is going and whether or not it will make a difference.

As mentioned above I am hoping to raise funds to pay for my tuition fees for the MA Screen: Acting course at Drama Centre London, which begins in January 2018: link to the course for further info:
http://www.arts.ac.uk/csm/courses/postgraduate/ma-screen-acting-drama-centre-london/

Drama Centre is recognised globally as having produced some of the most gifted and talented actors of our generation; from Michael Fassbender, Emilia Clarke, Tom Hardy, Gwendoline Christie; to Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Francis De La Tour, Paul Bettany and many, many more!

Being granted a place on this prestigious course has not been easy.  In order to be a successful applicant you must endure two gruelling waves of auditions, and be able to demonstrate the following, essential, criteria:

• High level of intellectual engagement

• High physical awareness and adaptability

• High vocal awareness and adaptability

• Highly developed characterisation

• High interactive awareness and adaptability

• Confident and flexible collaboration.

Having displayed all of the above qualities I was fortunate enough to be granted 1 of only 17 places on a course that receives over a 1000 applicants each year: a colossal achievement, I’m sure you will agree!

The course itself is so unique due to its integration of both MA Screen Acting students and MA Screen Directors - collaborating closely with the MA Directing Students is so important because these are the people who will shape the future of the film and tv industries; having the opportunity to nurture and develop a close working relationship with these people is invaluable to the overall success of working in a highly saturated industry.

Sadly, this success did not come without its irony. Having applied to the Vice Chancellor Scholarship before being offered my first audition (the scholarship is awarded on a first-come-first-served basis), I was confident that I would be accepted due to my early application in addition to my eligibility in meeting the criteria for being under the financial threshold for household income. Sadly, my application was unsuccessful.

The scholarship was hugely important to me as it slashed the huge £15,810 tuition fees by 50%, which would have given me a fighting chance of pursuing the course by covering my tuition fees and some of my maintenance costs.

Upon hearing this news I was heartbroken. I’ve  been working towards this for quite some time - perhaps my whole life, who knows? Having originally come to London 6 years ago to audition for a BA in Acting, my faltering confidence and lack of life experience let me down, and I was unsuccessful at that time.

Feeling somewhat disheveled and embarrassed at my failure I returned home to Sunderland. I began to analyse my dreams and concluded that I would invest my time and energy in training to become an English Teacher. Three years passed in which time I found that my ability to convince myself that I was doing the right thing, was nothing short of an act itself. No matter how hard I tried to dismiss it, my constant curiosity about the world of acting got the better of me.

I spent whole nights searching the internet for acting courses and theatre groups in my local area and always came up short. Almost 100 percent of those searches lead to - you guessed it - London. I spent months fantasising about what it would be like to attend one of the big drama schools such as Drama Centre, and after months of deliberation, I decided to move to London with the sole intention of training to become a professional actor.

In the past two years I've worked hard to break into the industry and have gained an amazing insight along the way. I've worked as an extra in various features, from playing a Tie Fighter Pilot in  Star Wars Rogue-1, and having a line with Tom Hardy in Taboo, to working on student short films and voice-over work. I've committed myself to learning as much about the industry as I possibly can, and it paid off when it came to auditioning for Drama Centre London.

Achieving my place on the course would take me one step closer to realising my dreams and help me on my way to becoming a professional actor, but without the scholarship I knew there was absolutely no way that I would be able to come up with the funds necessary to study.

So, rather than doing nothing, I have decided to run a crowdfunding campaign via GoFundMe with a target of raising £8,000 which will go toward’s my course fee’s and some of my maintenance costs. The rest of the money I will earn by holding down a part-time job whilst simultaneously attending the course.

As a way of showing my gratitude I will be offering rewards for the people your pledges, but these awards will be restricted to the skills I already possess which I will offer depending on the size of the donation;

Pledge Rewards:

£1 - £20

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this. If you think you can help, or would simply like to find out more about myself and the campaign, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With Love and thanks,
