My name is Corey Tighe and I'm the owner of CT woodwork here on Long Island, NY. I recently started a woodworking school out of my shop and see a huge opportunity to add more classes and machinery/tools. I feel in this day and age more people want to be hands on, and learn how to make things with their hands. I want to give back to the community all the knowledge I have to offer about woodworking, and inspire others to get into the craft on their own.
The classes run on weekends and weeknights. They run from 9:00AM to 5:00PM for a full day class, and 9:00AM to 1:00PM for a 1/2 day class. The weeknight classes run from 6:30PM to 9:30PM. There will be a lunch break for the full day classes. In each class I explain with great detail the processes to make furniture, small projects, and operate the tools in the shop.
The $4,000 I'm campaigning for will go towards needed tools, machinery, and supplies that I don't have currently to help enhance the education in the classes, as well as make some prototypes of the projects for the proposed classes. Some of the tools include: Festool sanders and dust extractors, chisels and handplanes for each student to use, and clamps to help with glueups for student projects.
I really appreciate any money you can help me out with continuing the only woodworking school on Long Island. It will truly improve the experience all students will receive in class. With having all the tools needed for the classes, each of the 3 students will have their own sander, chisel set, hand planes, handsaws, etc. to complete the project classes and enhance the technique classes.
With your help, we can make the 1st and only woodworking school happen in the area. So many people will appreciate the help you can provide to get the school operating with the necessary tools.
